Quido, the Sneak Peek!

Posted on 2005/09/01 17:01

Apologies for such an insane number of diary entries in the last few hours guys but we thought some of you guys might want to have a bit of a test drive of the game engine.

This release is ONLY a tech demonstration to show the map tracking and one of the effects of the 4 superpowers available (good ol' LIGHTNING! YEAH!).

Without any further mindless dribble, I give you TeamXERIAN's first tech sneak peak of "Quido van Killnhurtz' Failed Experiment".

Enjoy!

Quido's Tech Sneak Peek (8.4mb ZIP Archive) Run 'main.exe' - Win32. Cheers!

IMO more is better :)
The diaries have been too quiet for my liking ;)

More screens/gameplay descriptions/game specs/whatever! :)

Seeing what you've done, I guess that I should try something else than mspaint to draw my sprites next year.

I just tested the sneak peek and the hud looks odd. Like it has less colors the image it's loaded from. Check my screenshot to see what I mean.

Guys (& Girls?), I am really impressed with the tech demo. One thing to mention is this: like all kids with a new toy, I played with the lightning. A lot. All at one. After about 20 clicks in a row, you have a permanent, semi-transparent white layer covering the entire screen that doesn't go away. I don't know that it will be an issue in game but might be something to take a look at.

Otherwise, it seems great.

To Cowz :
Apparently you didn't play enough with it, the fog actually go again after a certain amount of time of course the more click you do the more fog there is , so the more time it takes to vanish.

I get this traceback:

File "main.py", line 25, in __init__
File "SiGL\sound.pyc", line 10, in build_pack
pygame.error: mixer system not initialized

when starting up on a win 2k box (it does have a sound card, but I don't know if it works). Hopefully this will be a quick fix to let the game run without sound if necessary.

Love the screenshots/movies seen so far though!
