Richard Jones' Log: Recycling mobile phones...
Just ordered myself a new phone (old one was getting crappier and crappier, and new one can take photos). Guy signing me up asked if I'd like a new SIM sent out for the old phone. I don't. I countered by asking whether they offer a recycling service. He was quite surprised - he said he'd not been asked that question in 2 years. Yes, they do have a service. What does it involve? I hand my old phone over to the courier delivering the new one. That's it! I asked him why they don't mention the service. He actually sounded puzzled. Maybe he might ask someone. There's always hope.
Oh, it's just a Nokia 3200 - came free with the $19 Optus plan. I'm never going to be jumping for the latest-and-greatest featues since I simply don't actually use my phone much. Mostly for ringing Rachel from the train station when the train's been cancelled to let her know I'll be a little late home.
The toggle buttons are a bit wierd, but I reckon it'll be OK. I'll probably take photos with it and the quality is better than the crappy camera I used a while back.
And which new phone did you get? Because this being a somewhat technical blog we now have to have a discussion of what is the best phone going around.
By a sparkling coincidence I received my new Sony Ericsson K700i today. It's a shame they announced an updated version on Wednesday. You have to love built in obsolescence.
